Course Summary:

On April 14, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m., the last span of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge (Bonner Bridge) under demolition collapsed in Dare County, North Carolina. An employee of PCL Civil Constructors, Inc. (PCL), engaged in the steel cutting, was killed. The collapsed span was the navigation span of the Bonner Bridge measuring 180 feet long, 24 feet wide, and approximately 60 feet above sea level, with a total weight of 980 kips. A structural engineer from DOC’s office visited the site after the accident.
